Heidari began his career in 1975 by directing Heinrich Böll’s play, Yek Saat Entezar a translation by Alireza Mahini. In 1977 he directed Friedrich Durrenmatt’s play Conversation at Night (Goftegooye Shabaneh) and in 1979 he directed and performed in Emmanuel Robles’ play Montserrat.
Jamshid’s story is quite the tale. How a ten-year-old child worked and studied to become a pioneer in Iranian cinema and earn a place in the mosaic of Iranian artists that have shaped this incredibly rich and fascinating culture over the past few thousand years. Jamshid is also known for writing, producing, and directing the first film about the painful Iran-Iraq war entitled Marz (Border). The film featured an incredible ensemble cast of some of Iran’s legendary actors. An authorized documentary that will tell his incredible and inspirational story is in production. Jamshid has been involved in countless projects since the 1970’s, below are the ones that he can recall. Remember this was a time before internet archives….
Heidari’s activities are as follows:
In 1975
He wrote and directed a short movie, Aftabe Koor (Blind Sun). This short movie has been banned by film censorship in Iran.
In 1976
He wrote and directed his first cinematic film, Marge Ghoo (Death of a Swan). This film was also banned by film censorship and was never shown in Iranian cinemas. However, this film was screened in different countries and appealed to many viewers.
In 1978-1979
He wrote, edited and directed his first film after the revolution, Karkas-ha Mimirand (Vultures Die). Only one copy of this film remains in Film Khaneh (House of Films) Ministry of Culture & Islamic Guidance of Iran.
In 1980
Heidari wrote, directed, and edited, Marz (Border). This was Iran’s first feature film in colour after the revolution and first film about the Iran-Iraq war.
In 1982
He wrote, directed and edited, Tofangdar (Gunman). This film is one of Iran’s first historical movies and depicts the beginning of the Jungle Movement.
In 1983
He produced and directed, Farar (The Escape). The movie was filmed in Iran and Germany and caught the attention of many Arabic countries. This film also introduced Ms. Sogand Rahmani to Iran’s cinema.
In 1985
He produced, Tashrifat and introduced Ms. Mahvash Sabrkon wife of Mahmoud Pakniyat to Iran’s cinema.
In 1990
He directed, edited and rewrote the screenplay for, Vakil Aval (The First Lawyer).
In 1991
, He directed, edited and rewrote the screenplay for, Vasvaseh (Temptation). With this movie, Nikki Karimi played in her first movie and was introduced to Iran’s cinema.
In 1994-1995
He directed and edited, Sang-o-Shishe (Rock and Glass) a TV series which was distributed by IRIB’s channel 2
